Module 1 Reflection

We find ourselves here again! This time we will be taking a look at the implications of design and evaluation in education technology over the next five weeks for the course ELRC 7501. During this course I want to be able to have a critical eye for professional development opportunities and its need for evaluation both before and after implementation. Already in the first chapter of Kirkpatrick's Four Levels of Training Evaluation I connect with The Four Levels, or better known as The New World Kirkpatrick Model, and reflection on several professional opportunities where it has been used and also wonder if this is currently something my district uses to assess and plan.

As I am drawing closer to the completion of my degree, I see that I am very critical with when and how I get my assignments done. I have also concluded I am more of a visual and auditory learner rather than kinesthetic. In regards to challenges, I am definitely a quickly panic, then get down to business kind of person. That may sound silly, but when I initially approach the unknown, I tend to overthink first, then I am able to (rather quickly) take a step back and develop a game plan to tackle the situation. Once I am focused I am motivated to complete whatever is ahead of me (coursework included) and knock it out of the park. During the courses prior, I have learned that I am not as focused during the day when my kids are active and awake as I am in the evenings or after everyone is in bed for the night. Not that my kids are necessarily distracting me, but more that I long to be with them and spending quality time, therefore my focus and effort is not where I would want for it to be. Now instead of getting frustrated with myself over not completing any work during the day, I can be honest with myself and make a plan where I am more productive.

I look forward to the learning journey that will continue with this course!
