As my summer II module courses are coming to a close reflecting on my learning in ELRC 7501, is quintessential to unpacking all the we dove into. This was probably one of the most challenging courses I have taken thus far for me. Not necessarily because of the level of difficulty in the content, but because of my personal struggle to remove myself from the role of the educator and step back to being the program evaluator. Due to my personal impulsivity, I chose to evaluate a campus program that I was heavily involved in creating. Let me tell you, using the teachings of Kirkpatrick, Dutwin, and Boulmetis against my own program was tough. Of course we want our own creations to be successful and prove to have positive effects with all stakeholders involved. Luckily for me, student data from the 2022-2023 Texas STAAR assessment supported that it was successful in meeting the needs of our learners, but I wasn't sure of that until about 3 days ago when I got the call from my principal. On the flip side, one area where it was beneficial to have been the receiver of professional developments was while creating my survey questions for educators to answer after the provided professional development opportunities. I sometimes moan and groan when I have to personally fill them out because let's be honest, at the end of the course I'm just ready to unwind to better unpack the information I learned later on. But, I was able to really think of questions that I would want to give my opinion on so that I felt as if my voice was heard loud and clear. Overall, I am satisfied with my experiences in the course and thankful to be able to apply this content in my future endeavors.
